Join the National Parks Protection Act

Time to get into an issue I feel semi-strongly about…

Lately national parks have lost substantial funding (of the already miniscule amount allocated in the first place) due to budget cutbacks. These changes have gone unnoticed for the most part due to the media’s focus on highlighting important healthcare, education reforms and other economic concerns. Yes, all these things are important, but so are our National Parks and so here goes my brief rant…

According to National Parks Conservation Association analysts, funding for the entire National Park System is only 1/13th of 1 percent of the $3.55 trillion federal budget. However, the program falls in the non-protected category meaning it was quickly targeted as a candidate for cuts.

If we lose the ability to maintain these natural wonders, there’s no going back. Pollution, climate change, neighboring developments, and crazy jerk-offs are just a few of the threats that the ecological balance of these areas face.

By supporting the NPCA you too can put your voice forward to stop the cutbacks. All it takes is a simple signature – Sign the Petition to Protect National Parks.

Even better yet, if you can spare a few dollars donate to the National Parks Foundation.

I count the National Parks that I have been to as some of the most beautiful places on earth. Don’t blow it dudes…I still have a very long list of parks that I want to visit…call me selfish, I don’t care.
