Tolkien week brings new Hobbit trailer

It’s Tolkien week! In celebration, Peter Jackson released a new trailer on Wednesday for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The film, which is set to hit theaters on December 14, 2012, is to be the first segment in a trilogy depicting J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendary epic tale The Hobbit.

If you were lucky enough to have Tolkien obsessed parents like me, you probably read The Hobbit, or There and Back Again at bedtime. For me, this ushered in a series of fantastical dreams and nightmares battling Smaug the dragon as a child.

The 1977 cartoon adaption of The Hobbit was entertaining but its not quite as in-depth as one might hope. So when they announced the plan to film this version, a la Lord of the Rings style, its fair to say I was intrigued. Without further ado, the latest trailer awaits. Nerdlings rejoice, it is glorious.

Thanks for your site and excellent journalism. I like the fact that you shoot from the hip with your questioning and take a realistic look at footage. An honest look. I will keep this site bookmarked and look forward to more of your interviews and stories. Thanks again!
